United for a cause

Amazon Coffee, after an analysis of the current global pandemic scenario, decided to allocate the money for the purchase of 30 percent of the coffees from our store to hospitals with lots of patients with the Covid-19 in poor regions in Brazil and Colombia. This action will happen during the first semester of 2021, the store will allocate the money first for the most affected states in both countries and then according to our financial situation during the period we can start thinking to provide more.

Brazil and Colombia are underdeveloped countries, with a huge social inequality, and the new corona virus has caused many cities to be drastically affected. With this action, we can help our countries to get out of this alarming situation, bringing the commercial relations between the two countries and Canada back to normal, making it possible to import coffee beans again.

With this initiative we from the Amazon Coffee believe that we can influence different companies and businesses to help disadvantaged countries in different ways. Not only money but also many other things can be provided for those who now have nothing, these attitudes are a big step towards a better world.

This highly desired drink makes it infallible in homes and because of that in this post you will know how all the process that is carried out to obtain from a delicious cup of coffee, to an exquisite dessert made of the best grain known to people worldwide. 1. Plantation:

The plantation is the first step for coffee production. In this pace a natural cycle begins where we will see how the seeds grow until a plant is formed that can reach 32.8 feet. Farmers must do the correct process in how the coffee is sown and do the proper cultivation, as they are fundamental elements for the quality of the grain.

  1. Harvest:

Harvest is generally done manually. This is because the coffee bean is ready to be picked. However, not all beans are always able to ripen. Due to that, here are two methods to realize harvest: Picked and stripping. The picked process is manual made which means that a homogeneous and quality is obtained. On the other hand, stripping is a mechanized process where all the beans are collected and at the end the ripe beans will be chosen for the next step.

  1. The pulping:

This process is where the pulp is removed. This process has to be done as quickly as possible because the seed could deteriorate.

Coffee cherries can be processed in different ways, but the two most common are:

ºDry process: The coffee beans are placed on a brick or concrete surface and left dry in the sun. Constantly those coffee cherries are flipped to achieve a uniform result.

ºWet process: With this technique is required an especial machine and a lot of water. This serves to remove the seed coat.

  1. Milling the Beans:

The farmer has to remove a certain part of the cherry, then the beans go to the thresher to remove the layer of parchment that remains from the wet processing of the coffee or the remaining peel from the dry processing. Its main function is to remove the husk that covers the grain to classify it according to its quality, shape, and size.

  1. Grain export:

At this stage, the coffee beans are distributed and sold to any market where they still carry out another type of processing so that a tasting is finally carried out.

It is incredible the amount of coffee that is exported to different parts and the labor that is required so that so far, the entire process is obtained.

  1. The tasting:

The main objective of this step is to analyze the quality, taste, appearance, among others.

It is carried out hand in hand with professionals.

  1. Coffee roasting:

The grain is subjected to high temperatures that reach 200 °, consequently, its size increases by 80-100%, loses between 12-20% in weight, decreases its caffeine, and finally acquires its characteristic color. Nonetheless the roaster teachers must consider how the coffee should be roasted. It is different as the coffee comes from different areas.

  1. The ground and the preparation.

Finally, the roasted coffee is then ground to an appropriate size for each brewing method. The consumer taste will determine the way the infusion is prepared.

These were the steps and all the hard work to get the coffee that you have at your home, or the coffee that you just find in your favorite coffee shop. We are grateful for all the workers and you who are part of this amazing process.

Secrets to a good cup of coffee

Amazon Coffee wants to teach its customers, what are the characteristics that the best coffee should have; and why Brazil and Colombia are considered in the top 7 of the countries with the best coffee in the world according to Lugarnia`s blogs, countries like Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Kenya and Guatemala are also part of this list.

First, it is important to note that there are three different types of coffee beans, these are: Robusta, Liberica and Arabica. According to experts, arabica coffee beans are those that have the best flavor and aroma and for a successful harvest it is necessary that climatic and natural conditions are considered when growing it; for example, the tropical climate that in Brazil is presented with mild winters and humid summers and in the case of Colombia, its coffee crops among the mountains located at more than 2000 meters high, allow unique conditions to offer a unique coffee.

Now we will give some basic secrets to identify a good coffee:

Color: The roast of the coffee determines its color. The lower the roast level, the lighter it will be, while if the roast level is higher, the color of the coffee will be almost black. So the degree of toasting should be medium so that its flavor and aromas can be enjoyed with greater intensity.

Aroma: Coffee has a large number of aromas, the most pleasant ones are usually floral, fruit aromas, nuts, chocolates, caramel, berries, etc.

Flavor: Flavor is obviously the most important thing when having a good cup of coffee. A good coffee must have a balance and its flavor must be between acidity and balanced sweetness.

Roast date: One of the qualities that a good coffee has is the roast date and the origin. For this reason, it is important to look not only at the expiration date, but also the roasting date. So we can know its degree of freshness, a fundamental factor when enjoying a good coffee.

Now that you know how good coffee should taste, why not come to Amazon Coffee to enjoy the best quality coffee you will find in Vancouver.
